Happy 95th birthday, Betty White

Betty White’s birthday came up on the news today and I gave it a quick glance. What a trailblazer! In reading two articles about her I’ve learned that she was one of the first (or THE first) female TV producers in Hollywood, and the first female game show hosts to win TV’s top honour, the Emmy. She has been working in the entertainment industry for more than 75 years. Wow.

The resource site, Wikipedia, has a long list of her accomplishments during her long and varied career. While no one takes credit of all of the facts that Wikipedia maintains, it has become one of the most referenced sites on the internet. It’s a repository maintained by its readers and does not rely on advertisers, but donations by its audience. This makes it an unbiased, perhaps incomplete, collection of information, organized in an easy-to-use format. Check it out: Wikipedia
